There is likely no one in the United States who has greater expertise or who has contributed more to our understanding of service-learning and civic engagement that Robert Bringle. He has performed, developed, and published on such topics as scholarship-based-, implementation of-, institutional alignment and-, theories of-,teaching methods for-, assessment of-, and models for service-learning. Add in articles and demonstrations of the design of interventions to promote civic engagement in students, combine this with his intense focus on defining, documenting, and evaluating service as a scholarly activity and you have an individual who has achieved major local, national and international recognition as an engaged scholar. His CV lists at least 80 publications on various topics within the domain of service-learning and civic engagement.
