Biographical Abstracts

Alžbeta Brozmanová Gregorová is an associate professor at the Faculty of Education, Matej Bel University (MBU), in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. She focuses primarily on volunteering, service-learning, the nonprofit sector in Slovak conditions, and participatory approaches in social work. She is the author of several publications and research studies in these areas. Since 2013, she has coordinated the service-learning strategy at MBU. She has been actively working in advocacy and development of volunteering and service-learning since 2002.

She is considered one of the most prominent experts in volunteering and civic engagement in Slovakia and some European countries. She prepared several strategic and legislative documents on volunteering. As a result of her work, university/school-community partnership is incorporated as one of the principles of volunteering and civic engagement and volunteering development.

Brozmanová Gregorová is president of the Platform of Volunteer Centers and Organizations, previously serving as vice president. She coordinated several international and national projects. She also acts as a volunteer management and service-learning trainer, a project evaluator, a facilitator, a consultant, and a supervisor. She is a graduate of the Fulbright program, a member of the Government Council for Nongovernmental Organizations, the Board of the Directors of the European Association on Service-learning in Higher Education, the Service-Learning Network for Central and Eastern Europe.
